Curly Maple Coffee Table

Found some absolutely incredible curly maple boards and made a coffee table. Curly maple, also called Tiger Stripe, Flame or Fiddleback, is one of my favorite woods and I knew I had to buy the wood when I saw it. The natural three-dimensional ripple effect is called Chatoyance and these boards had it uniformly across the entire boards length and width resulting in amazing table from all directions. The boards were cut to size and panel glued. I finished with a coat of hard wax oil to amber the color slightly and to enhance the curl effect and sprayed a top coat of Semi-Gloss Polyurethane to maximize the chatoyance. The top was mounted to steel black splayed coffee legs.
