To maintain stability, the shelves are made from 2 sheets of 3/4” white oak plywood laminated together to create a 1.5” thick shelf. The front is a solid walnut edge banding to cover the exposed plywood and provide additional rigidity across a the 5 foot span. They are mounted using hidden supports for floating effect. The cabinet are assembled from prefinished birch plywood and select pine face frames, with shaker style doors on soft-close hinges. Finally, the cabinet top is 2 MDF sheets laminated to create a 1.5” thick top. Since MDF edges are susceptible to damage if bumped, a solid Hard Maple edge banding was attached to the front. The top and cabinet face were sanded and primed for the client to paint with the color of their choice.
