Surface Care
(Polyurethane)
Your table is protected by a Polyurethane topcoat, a premium synthetic resin designed for maximum durability and ease of maintenance. Acting as a clear suit of armor for your wood, this finish forms a solid surface layer that is impervious to water and highly resistant to solvents and impact. Polyurethane excels where softer finishes struggle: it provides a long-lasting, maintenance-friendly surface that locks out humidity and protects the wood underneath from warping, swelling, and physical wear. Simple, regular care can preserve the natural beauty of the grain while offering the superior durability needed for a table that is meant to be used and loved for generations.
Regular care
Dust regularly: Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to dust the table and prevent dust from scratching the surface.
Wipe up spills immediately: Blot spills to prevent them from soaking into the finish. This includes water, juice, coffee, alcohol and other liquids.
Use coasters and placemats: Protect the surface from heat, moisture rings, and scratches by using coasters for drinks and placemats for plates and hot food.
Cleaning
Gentle cleaning: For routine cleaning, use a damp cloth with mild soap and water or a mixture of water and vinegar. The vinegar solution can help cut through grease without damaging the finish.
Avoid harsh chemicals: Do not use abrasive cleaners, alcohol, ammonia, or bleach, as they can dull, peel, or etch the finish.
Test new cleaners: If you need to use a new product, test it on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure it won't cause damage.
Long-term maintenance
Avoid furniture polish: Furniture polish can build up and leave a residue.
Be careful with hot items: Always use a trivet or hot pad under hot dishes to prevent the finish from becoming soft or tacky.
Check for damage: Periodically inspect the table for any signs of wear, like cracks or a gummy texture, which may indicate the finish is failing.
