Surface Care
(Polyurethane)

To care for a polyurethane-finished table, regularly dust with a microfiber cloth, wipe up spills immediately, and use coasters and placemats to protect the surface. For cleaning, use a damp cloth with mild soap and water or a solution of water and vinegar, avoiding harsh chemicals, alcohol, or ammonia-based cleaners, which can damage the finish.

Regular care

  • Dust regularly: Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to dust the table and prevent dust from scratching the surface.

  • Wipe up spills immediately: Blot spills to prevent them from soaking into the finish. This includes water, juice, coffee, alcohol and other liquids.

  • Use coasters and placemats: Protect the surface from heat, moisture rings, and scratches by using coasters for drinks and placemats for plates and hot food.

Cleaning

  • Gentle cleaning: For routine cleaning, use a damp cloth with mild soap and water or a mixture of water and vinegar. The vinegar solution can help cut through grease without damaging the finish.

  • Avoid harsh chemicals: Do not use abrasive cleaners, alcohol, ammonia, or bleach, as they can dull, peel, or etch the finish.

  • Test new cleaners: If you need to use a new product, test it on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure it won't cause damage.

Long-term maintenance

  • Avoid furniture polish: Furniture polish can build up and leave a residue.

  • Be careful with hot items: Always use a trivet or hot pad under hot dishes to prevent the finish from becoming soft or tacky.

  • Check for damage: Periodically inspect the table for any signs of wear, like cracks or a gummy texture, which may indicate the finish is failing.
